I’m a human-centered designer who revels in untangling complexity. My first taste of field work was in 2007, when I had the opportunity to learn from one of the last remaining Secoya communities. I have been studying the relationships between people, materials, and environments ever since. After completing a BA in Anthropology at Kalamazoo College, I joined the start-up industry, where I began to see the connections between Anthropology and Design. I chose to go back to school to continue exploring the intersection of those fields. After completing an MA in Interaction Design from Carnegie Mellon University I have continued to work on research surrounding design pedagogy and practice with Peter Scupelli. I am passionate about designing for ‘what if’ by deeply understanding ‘what is,’ and I believe design should begin with questions.
